December 2006

Concertia Technologies Inc. is awarded Project Management services contract from the Nova Scotia Department of Health effective December 2006. As part of Continuing Care’s roll out of its Long Term Care Bed Replacement and Renewable Program, a series of projects will plan and manage for new and replacement Long Term Care beds throughout the province. Concertia will provide full Project Management Services for a minimum of 2.5 years for this initiative.

Nova Scotia's population is aging. According to Statistics Canada, 1 in 4 Nova Scotians will be 65 years and older in 2026, up from 13.2% in 2001. Seniors are the fastest growing segment, and Nova Scotia has the oldest population in Atlantic Canada. The NS Department of Health recently completed a comprehensive strategic planning process for the future of continuing care. One of its key outputs from this process is a government commitment to the completion of new and replacement long term care beds by the end of the fiscal year 2009/2010.
